Farmers’ Markets, Cooking Demos & Glamping!

If you’ve ever been in between homes, you know the feeling: living out of bags and boxes, bouncing between places – but still grateful for the modern comforts. And with just a little effort, there’s no need to give up the gift of REAL food!

This week, we made our first trip to the Farmers’ Market of the Ozarks as official Missouri residents! We loaded up on fresh produce, met incredible local growers, and found inspiration for some mouthwatering meals. I’m sure many of them don’t know quite what to think of us – yet!

We also did two corporate wellness cooking demos, showing how easy and delicious REAL food can be – including dishes like the Mulligatawny Soup, Pear & Butternut Squash Salad, Slow Cooker Borscht Stew, and the Kale Waldorf Salad. And yes…there were Harvest Pumpkin Bars and the Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins! These employees have become friends over the years – we are beyond grateful and can’t wait to support them on their REAL food journeys.

Our “freezer clean-out challenge” continued – where we discovered frozen pumpkin puree and containers of TruWhip and CocoWhip. Naturally, that meant baking our Pecan Streusel Pumpkin Pie – this time in an 8×8 baking dish. Scott commented all week long how delicious it is! Check it out as an idea for your Thanksgiving celebration!

And because good food brings people together, we enjoyed another going-away dinner with dear friends – the kind who make every meal more meaningful. ❤️️ We can’t wait to welcome them to our new home to enjoy more great meals together!

If you’re navigating change, feeling like life is a little chaotic, or just looking for fresh inspiration – we hope this encourages you to keep eating REAL and savoring every moment. Because good food makes every place feel like home – even when you’re glamping! 🏡

Epic Pancake Fail in Our New Kitchen 🫣

Ever have one of those kitchen moments that didn’t quite go as planned? We sure did! In our new kitchen, we decided to make our Apple Peek-a-Boo Pancakes – one of our favorite fall recipes.

Let’s just say it turned into an epic learning experience. Between cooking on propane instead of natural gas (hello, extra heat 🔥) and using kefir instead of buttermilk, our pancakes had a mind of their own!

The first attempt…not so great. But when we got back home to Wichita, we gave it another shot — with less kefir this time — and things definitely improved (though still not quite perfect!). We’re sharing this as a reminder that even when recipes don’t turn out exactly as planned, there’s always something to learn — and that’s part of the fun!

Will Cool Whip be on your shopping list during the holidays this year? Of course, it is a staple on holiday pies. And who can resist adding a little whipped cream to your hot cocoa?

And let’s be honest, Cool Whip is just so darn convenient!  While it ranks high on the convenience scale, it doesn’t stack up so well on the nourishment scale.  Most people don’t realize there is a lot going on in that plastic white tub.  And it’s definitely NOT COOL!

We have a coaching tip where you can dive in to exactly what is in the whipped cream you find at the store, a couple of “healthier” alternatives, and five varieties you can make in your own kitchen with REAL ingredients. We even did a taste test and share our results!
