“I just want to show you how we like to cut an avocado. Normally, I pull the little stem out. You can use your chef’s knife, but here’s where I think using a small paring knife is a little easier — first I go around the avocado. And then, well, there you go. Pop the little pit out. And then depending on if you want it sliced or diced, you could just slice it using the knife — the skin’s going to protect your hand — but you could also turn your knife around. That was a chef trick a friend taught me. And so you could do the slices, or you could do a checkerboard pattern and then take a spoon and just scoop it out, and it will be either sliced or diced however you like it.”
