Purple Power Smoothie

Serves: 2 (for breakfast) and 4 (for dessert)
Ready In: 10 minutes

Why We Like It

Blueberries are not only great for the brain but also for blood sugar control.  And the best part?  This smoothie is so incredibly good and super satisfying WITHOUT any added sugar!  There is even a hidden immune-boosting, cancer-fighting cruciferous veggie (purple cabbage) that no one will taste!  With the boost of protein and valuable nutrients, everyone will benefit from this delicious purple power!

Put it All Together:

  • 2 cups skim milk (or soy milk)
  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries (frozen)
  • 1 banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup purple cabbage (cut into large chunks)
  • 1/4 cup almonds (whole, sliced, or slivered)
  • 2 Tbsp ground flax seed (or chia seeds, or hemp seeds)
  • 1" piece fresh ginger (peel removed if desired, or use 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Remembering to always start with the liquid (to keep the blades moving), place in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

If you would like your smoothie thicker, add 1/2 to 1 cup of ice and blend again.

Serve and Enjoy!
