Week of October 7, 2013 - Weekly Meal Ideas


Thank you for being a Get REAL Wichita member!

We have done the thinking for you!  Here is the REAL food plan for this week; there are 3 entrees, 3 sides, and 2 quick and easy meals — with a customizable and printable shopping list (you can even view it on your phone!).  Because we all have busy schedules we have included a pork slow cooker meal (Slow Cooker Carnitas Tacos) that will also give you leftovers to use for a quick and easy meal (BBQ Pork Pizza).  Try to take advantage of those in-season veggies for the roasted vegetables…now is the time to use zucchini, squash, eggplant, and beets (if you don’t think you like beets, you gotta try roasting them, it just may change your mind)!

REAL deals for October!  Our local merchants have offered some great discounts for meal ingredients as well as meals away from home.

For great ingredients:

  • Green Acres (you can use their coupon for Alaskan Salmon in the Glazed Salmon Sandwich)
  • The Seafood Shop is offering a discount on all fresh fish

There are a few weeks left at the Farmer’s Market.  Make time on Saturday morning to take advantage of our farmer’s market deals for some of this week’s ingredients too:

  • Phil’s Family Farm (they are offering a coupon when you order your Thanksgiving turkey!)
  • Kan-Grow Hydro Farm
  • Clark Farm

There are some great deals to eat away from home!  Ciao Italian Kitchen is offering a BOGO, Taste and See is offering 10% off lunch and Public at the Brickyard is offering $5 off lunch…just to name a few!
