Why We Like It
These burgers come together really quick either in the skillet or on the grill. The olives and sun-dried tomatoes give them great flavor! Don’t be intimidated if you have never tried sun-dried tomatoes -- they can be found by the olives in the store, and you can use the ones that are packed in oil, or dried, either way is fine! These burgers were great with the Greek Inspired Baked Fries!
Make and Cook the Burgers:
Add everything except the oil to a large bowl and combine together with your hands but try not to overwork the mixture. Shape the mixture into patties and place on a plate. Add oil to a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook the patties about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. (These burgers are also great cooked on the grill)!
Caramelize the onions:
While the burgers are cooking, add oil to another skillet over medium high heat. Cook the onions for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Toast the Buns:
Toast the hamburger buns in the toaster or in the oven (350 degrees for about 3 minutes).
Serve and Enjoy!
Serve the burgers on toasted buns with feta cheese sprinkled on top.
If you have never had ground venison or ground bison, this is a great recipe to try it. Ground venison and ground bison can sometimes be found at our local stores and can often be found at the farmers’ market!
If you can’t find whole wheat breadcrumbs at the store, you can either use Panko breadcrumbs or make your own. Simply take a slice or two of whole wheat bread, place in a blender or food processor and blend — instant breadcrumbs!
