Week of December 9, 2013 - Weekly Meal Ideas

The holiday rush is on!  I don’t know about you, but I don’t need anyone telling me how many more shopping days are left until Christmas because I am really feeling “behind the eight-ball” this year!

Since you may be feeling the rush too, we have included some great recipes this week to help you enjoy delicious REAL food while still managing your crazy schedule!  The Gumbo with Chicken and Sausage is a fantastic meal for a cold winter night and the leftovers are just as good the second time around!  The Apple Cider Slow Cooker Chicken will help with dinner when you are rushing around to finish holiday shopping, and then the leftover chicken works great in the Pistachio Pesto Chicken Pasta.  One of our favorites is the Guinness Steak Sandwich – another great meal for a cold day or night!  Last but certainly not least, you gotta try the parsnip fries — they taste just like French fries!  If you have kids, you should really try making these, but don’t tell the kids they are parsnip fries until they have devoured them!


THE REAL DEALS!

  • If you haven’t already heard — Taste and See has a new location open in Old Town!  Located at 2nd and Washington, the new location has the same AMAZING food as the Harry location, plus a few additional items on the menu.  Treat yourself on Sunday — Jason is offering a Sunday brunch buffet at the Old Town location from 10 AM to 2 PM…there are Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas too!  This is the perfect way to try all of his outstanding REAL food creations (did I mention the Mimosas?!)!  Also, the Harry location is still open for lunch and you can use your coupon for 10% off!
  • Green Acres is offering a discount on chicken breasts you can use for the Gumbo with Chicken and Sausage and the Apple Cider Slow Cooker Chicken!
  • Remember, December 14 is the next winter farmer’s market at 21st and Ridge!
