Wichita Restaurant Week starts tomorrow! We are obviously HUGE advocates for preparing and enjoying delicious REAL meals at home, but we also love to support our local restaurants! Even if you don’t often eat out, this next week is the time to make an exception! October 10-19 is Wichita’s Restaurant Week! Enjoy an amazing meal at one of our participating local restaurants and 10% of the proceeds goes to the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Kansas. Each restaurant will have a special Restaurant Week Menu and you can go to www.wichitarestaurantweek.com to see the list of participating restaurants and their menus! Several of our Get REAL Wichita partners are participating! Eat, drink and give back!
“Souper” Farewell at the Old Town Farmer’s Market this Saturday, October 11th! There will be several local restaurants serving up soup at the market to say farewell to the 2014 Old Town farmer’s market season — the market will return in Spring of 2015!
The Kansas Grown Market at 21st and Ridge is winding down, but hasn’t stopped yet — stop by on Saturday and savor the last of the fresh produce the season has to offer!
- Pick up some chicken from Phil’s Farm for the Simple Jerk Chicken!
- Graze the Prairie is where we got our filets for the Open-Faced Steak Reuben and they were delicious! Graze the Prairie will be at the Old Town Farmer’s Market too!
- Stock up on late-season tomatoes from Southwest Corner Farm — perfect for the Easy Roasted Salsa!
- Leland Garden should have beets for the Cabbage and Beet Salad – get some while they last!
- Seiwert Farms will have jalapeños to use in the Easy Roasted Salsa and Butternut Squash you can use in the Spiced Middle Eastern Pumpkin! (We used butternut squash instead of pumpkin and it was exceptionally good)!
- Give the gift of homemade jam — Steve’s Jams and Jellies will be there for your early holiday shopping!
Don’t forget about our other merchants for your other ingredients — The Spice Merchant is the perfect place to pick up spices you may need and Green Acres will have all the other things you can’t find at the Farmer’s Market! Remember your coupons and thank you for supporting Get REAL Wichita!
