Happy 2014! Is it holiday detox time? Hopefully you had a relaxing holiday and enjoyed some great food – I know we did…maybe a little too much! This week’s meal ideas include meals that are slightly on the lighter side to help you ease off the past two weeks of holiday food overload! There is a delicious Roasted Cauliflower Soup (a creamy soup without the cream) and the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps are so good I am ready to make them again! We have also included a recipe for tempeh and, if you have never tried it, it makes a great vegetarian sloppy joe (you won’t know it is vegetarian)! Thank you for being a Get REAL Wichita member and starting your 2014 with us…it is going to be a great year for REAL food!

THE REAL DEALS!
As we kick off 2014, our Get REAL Wichita partners are offering some great deals, just for you!
- Avivo Pizzeria is offering a deal on salads to start your new year off right!
- Green Acres is continuing to offer their fantastic deal on the entire store – yes, this includes the deli too!
- Stop by and see Phil with Phil’s Farm this Saturday, January 4th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM – he will be outside at the Sedgwick County Extension at 21st and Ridge – use your coupon for a great deal on smoked turkey breast! This is a great alternative to pre-packaged deli meat you might purchase at your local grocery store (better taste and quality at a lower price). You really should try his chickens too if you haven’t already!
Mark your calendars!
- Visit Get REAL Wichita at the Green Acres Health Fair from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18!
- The next Kansas Grown Winter Farmer’s Market will be at 21st and Ridge on Saturday, January 25, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM!
We are looking forward to a great 2014 with you – thank you!
