Fat Tuesday is Tuesday, February 17th! You can celebrate Mardi Gras style…or at least EAT Mardi Gras style…since most of us probably won’t be making a trip to New Orleans! Then, next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which means the beginning of Lent. If you are considering doing something special for Lent, what about a commitment to eat only REAL food?!
The celebration of Mardi Gras actually goes back as far as the late 1700’s and in 1875, the “Mardi Gras Act” was signed making Fat Tuesday a legal holiday in Louisiana, which it still is today. So, if you are looking forward to maybe over-indulging a little on Fat Tuesday (still eating REAL food of course!), then we have some great recipes for you this week!
Get in the Mardi Gras mood and enjoy the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo or the Curried White Fish Creole — they are both absolutely amazing! The Slow Cooker Balsamic Pork Tenderloin is over-the-top good and the leftovers make for a perfect quick and easy meal…like the Pork and Apple Stuffed Sweet Potato! The Women’s Fair is next weekend, February 20-22 and I am doing a cooking demonstration at 2:00 PM next Saturday, February 21st!
