Happy Valentine’s Day Week!  I won’t bore you with a Roses Are Red poem, but I will tell you that we have some meal ideas this week that you may fall in love with!  Obviously I like all of our recipes that become “Get REAL Wichita-worthy,” but once in a while there comes along one that I consider to be an absolute favorite, one I keep thinking about and have a craving to make again!  That happened this week with the Cherry Tomato Margherita Pizza!  It’s absolutely delicious – and will be over-the-top when Summer comes and we can use fresh, in-season cherry tomatoes and basil!

All of the meal ideas would be excellent Valentines dinners, but if you are looking for a special meal, the Creamy Mushroom Risotto and the Strip Steak Over Shaved Brussels Sprouts would definitely make an impression!  Don’t be intimidated…risotto just sounds fancy but it really is not hard to make!  My perfect Valentine meal would be a bowl of risotto and a glass of red wine – YUM!  With the exception of these two meals I just mentioned, all of the meals follow a “red” theme!  Coincidence?  And, Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without dessert!  The Chocolate Soufflé is rich, delicious and chocolate…need I say more?!  We have also added Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries to www.eatrealamerica.com – both of these are great choices for a Valentine’s Day REAL food dessert!

  • Taste and See 2 Valentine’s Dinner – at the Old Town location on Friday, February 14, enjoy an amazing chef selected four course meal for $50/couple.  You can even pre-order a bottle of champagne to be waiting at your table!  Reservation times are 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
  • Taste and See Progressive Valentine’s Dinner – at the Harry location on Friday, February 14, make your reservation for a memorable six course progressive dinner by Chef Jason at 7:00 PM for $160/couple which includes a bottle of bubbly!  Call 260-4233 to make reservations for either Taste and See location!

Mark your calendar!  Next Saturday, February 15th is the next winter farmer’s market day at the Sedgwick County Extension Office!
