Week of December 16, 2013 - Weekly Meal Ideas

It’s a good thing we don’t keep up this “holiday rush” pace all year long — I am not sure I could do it!  We have included some great recipes for the week to help with our fast paced schedules so we can still have some great REAL food meals at home!  They are all really good but I am particularly partial to two of them: the Chicken Enchilada Skillet and the Pineapple Pork Fried Rice!  They are both so easy and so good – and the kids went back for seconds on both of these!  We hope you enjoy this week’s meal ideas and have time to give some of them a try! THE REAL DEALS!

This Saturday, December 14th beginning at 8:00 AM is the last winter farmer’s market day of 2013!

  • Visit Phil with Phil’s Farm — he is offering Get REAL Wichita members a great deal on smoked turkey breast!  This turkey is delicious and would be great to serve your guests for the holiday!
  • While you are talking to Phil, ask him if he has any ham hocks left.  We will be providing an amazing Hoppin’ John recipe for New Year’s Day that includes a ham hock as an ingredient, so go ahead and pick one up on Saturday so you are ready!
  • Stop by and see Karen at Elm Lane Farm — she is still offering a discount on all of her fresh greens – pick up some kale for the Gnocchi with Butternut Squash, Chickpeas and Kale and some romaine for your salads or sandwiches (possibly the Romaine Salad with Creamy Feta Dressing)!
  • Check out the great deal on lamb when you stop by and see Randy at Clark Farm — we have several recipes for lamb on eatrealamerica.com!
  • Use your coupon for venison at Farmer’s Fallow Deer — you can stock up for the winter — Brad and Shirley will take good care of you!
